that more people would get involved if they just knew how. Here is our
listings of committees and projects that can use your help. Just
donating a few hours per week or month can make all the difference!

Committee Chairs and
Members Needed
Membership
We need someone to help build the
membership of Amigos de Bucerias! This person is also responsible for
maintaining the membership database
Environmental
The Environment Committee of the
Amigos de Bucerias has as its goal to promote projects that provide for
a clean and safe environment in the Bucerias Community. All activities
are done in close cooperation with government officials, business
owners, and local residents. One of the important activities of the
Committee is litter clean up and disposal. The Committee is also working
to place trash barrels in areas of the community that are not currently
provided with containers. Other future goals include involving local
youth in environmental activities; helping to alleviate problems that
negatively impact the environment such as trash in vacant lots; and
establishing a permanent recycling program.
Government
Relations
Now that Amigos de Bucerias has a
charter and has achieved the A.C. status, we can more effectively deal
with government agencies. Spanish-speaking people are needed for this
committee.
The logo committee
needed members with some Spanish speaking abilities to contact the
schools and set up presentations with the principal and teachers. The
goal is to explain the purpose of the Amigos association and how it
positively affects the community. We would like the teachers to organize
a logo-drawing contest among the students to design the new Amigos logo.

Newsletter
Writers
We want the newsletter to be reflective of our world in Bucerias. Help
us by writing an article, or by sending us your ideas. Write to Susan at

Editors
Speaks for itself. For some reason it’s hard for people to keep to a
maximum number of words and thus we need people to work with the
articles we receive.
Translators
Always needed . . . always very much appreciated.
Distribution
Hard copies: We distribute over 600-700 hard copies to about 40
businesses in Bucerias--Aborrotes, papelerieas, pharmacias, restaurantes,
hoteles. If we have several people doing the distribution, it will be a
fun and easy job. Those who do it and have done so in the past
appreciate the chance to speak with people throughout the city they
haven’t had a chance to meet otherwise.
E-mail distribution: We
e-mail Amigos y Vecinos to about 400 people in the United States,
Canada, and Mexico. It’s slightly time-consuming but another job that
wiill be appreciated if someone will volunteer to do it.
Back-up Production
Currently done on PageMaker, but can be done in other software programs.
Includes bringing the product to a local copier/printer.
Business
Sales: The newsletter is
supported by the sale of space, i.e. business cards and ads. We are
starting slowly with the ads, but people tell us here in Bucerias we are
the only viable venue for advertising that is reasonably priced, and
geared to our local market. It’s a lot of work going out there every
month collecting cards and ads and help is needed.
Sales Manager: We need
someone to oversee this essential work. There are a lot of businesses
here who want to advertise and we have that opportunity for them in
Amigos y Vecinos. We need someone to take responsibility for this entire
business area.
