NONPROFIT GROUPS IN BUCERIAS

Thanks to all the people who volunteer their time and energy to important activities for our community. Following are some of the volunteer organizations and people who make things happen around Bucerias. (If you know of an organization not listed here, please e-mail amigosdebucerias@yahoo.com. Amigos de Bucerias, A.C.

Dedicated to the protection and enhancement of quality of life in Bucerias, including placing trash barrels around town, graffiti cover-up, Children's Day Movie Festival, and the newsletter Amigos y Vecinos. Contact John Ozzello. Contact Linda Foy for information about Amigos y Vecinos.

Beta Sigma Phi

Beta Sigma Phi is an international sorority that has been involved with El Centro de Atencion Multiple No. 12, which is a federally funded school, but those funds are very slim. The school now has very nice playground equipment due to this ladies group. This year they are providing eye examinations from our local opthamologist, Alma Martinez, and if eyeglasses are needed they will be purchased for the children. Rey Nayar Library Group

Bucerias Bilingual Community Center

Promotes bilingual/bicultural interchange. Located two blocks above the lateral behind the ice house (take Matamoros to 16 de Septiembre Street, turn right and you are there). Matamoros is past Carnes del Mondo going north. Classes in Spanish and English, yoga, Mexican cuisine, arts and crafts. Primary needs are English and Spanish teachers, teaching assistants, office assistants and funds to provide telephone service to the Center. It is necessary that any classes, meetings or event to be held at the BBCC must be scheduled through Sean Mulvaney, 298-3527, mulmex@gmail.com.

Manos de Amor por Bahia, A.C.

Manos de Amor por Bahia, A.C. was formed to build an orphanage in Bucerias. It is presently managing a shelter for 12 children. Donations can be left at Galeria Plurimas on Ave. Las Palmas, near the Decameron Resort, or at Scott’s Tours on Lazaro Cardenas south of the footbridge in Bucerias. Cleft Palate Program

Cleft Palate Programm of the International Friendship Club of Puerto Vallarta helps children who are born with cleft lip and palate, no ears, macrostoma, scars, drooping eyelids and other problems that can be helped with plastic surgery. Contact Patricia Mendez 298-1767.

Help the Animals / Mexico Animals

Las Mujeres Unidas por la Bahía de Banderas, A.C.

Advocates for the rights of Mexican citizens, supports environmental programs and programs designed to preserve the integrity of the Mexican family. The Mujeres scholoarship program enables Mexican youth to continue their education (4,000 pesos per student). Ron and Arlene Tackett

Ron and Arlene Tackett bring Santa to children in our pueblo who may otherwise not receive any Christmas gift. Depending on donations, they distribute candy and toys to about 1,000 children. Contact: arlenetackettmx@yahoo.com

The Friendship Club of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

The Friendship Club of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle raises funds to help local children with medical problems and school related needs. It is based at Philo’s Restaurant/Music Studio, as are the fund-raising activities for a seniors’ center. Contact Kathleen Dobek: (329) 295 5141, philos.notes@gmail.com

Centro de Salud in Bucerias
