The Environment Committee of the Amigos de Bucerias has as its goal to promote projects that provide for a clean and safe environment in the Bucerias Community. All activities are done in close cooperation with government officials, business owners, and local residents. One of the important activities of the Committee is litter clean up and disposal. The Committee is also working to place trash barrels in areas of the community that are not currently provided with containers. Other future goals include involving local youth in environmental activities; helping to alleviate problems that negatively impact the environment such as trash in vacant lots; and establishing a recycling program.

Recyclers of Bucerias

The recycling program is not an Amigos de Bucerias project, but it benefits all residents of Bucerias. It came into being thanks to the hard work of Barry Munro, an Amigos de Bucerias member, who was able to network through Amigos de Bucerias with other members to implement it.

Amigos de Bucerias appreciates the work of Barry and his volunteers. The Amigos trash barrel program benefits from funds received through the sale of the collected material.

(RECYCLERS of BUCERIAS)

 

The RECYCLERS of BUCERIAS is a not for profit program run totally by volunteers.  All of the money generated from recycling is used to improve the lives of the citizens of Bucerias.  We have purchased food for “Casa Hogar de Manos de Amor” and purchased garbage cans which we have donated to the neighborhoods of Bucerias and to those individuals who could not afford to buy them.  We have funds which are available to any of Bucerias’ charities or service organizations that are in need.  We are trying in some small way to give back to our community, to educate our community about recycling and help improve the environment of Bucerias and our planet.

 

We recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans.  Early every Thursday morning volunteers drive through Bucerias and collect recycling from homes and businesses.  All of our collections are taken to our sorting and storage lot at the corner of Encino and Invierno where volunteers sort and bag our recycling for transport to the recycling center.    

 

If you wish to join the RECYCLERS of BUCERIAS you can drop your plastic bottles and cans at our lot at the corner of Encino and Invierno or call Barry at 329. 298. 2809 or condoazul@hotmail.com and we will add you to collection list.  Volunteers are always welcome as well. 

 

As we say “Get involved, we are making a difference.”   It is very true.  In the past year we have recycled almost 10 tons of material and donated over $7000.00 pesos back into our community thanks to all of the recyclers in Bucerias.   

 

How to Participate:

 

We will be out and about early on Thursday morning collecting the plastic and aluminum that you want to recycle.  We want to simplify collection to make this all EASIER for you and for us.

1. IF YOU HAVE RECYCLING E-MAIL OR CALL ME: condoazul@hotmail.com – 298.2809   ALSO OUR RECYCLING LOT IS OPEN FOR DROP OFFS EACH THURSDAY FROM 9 – 11 AM Jalisco  WE ARE LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF ENCINO AND INVIERNO.
2. NO SEPARATION IS NECESSARY.  PUT YOUR PLASTIC CONTAINERS AND ALUMINUM IN A BAG.  WE WILL COLLECT YOU RECYCLING EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.   
3. PLEASE NO OTHER TRASH!
